Trend mannequins standing on the storefronts

change clothes for the season with matching khaki colour,

special offer just today for women are cheap identities

in light clothing material in empty blabbering.

The customers are and always will be right,

the cost performance matches the needs,

but what gets put in sale it’s not merchandise but your souls.

Envelope in the version of individuality of this year

and scream*

“Yes yes yes yes”

Is this “forget after all” trend a game?

“Yes yes yes yes”

Let’s line up in a queue for something with everyone!

Amazing! Amazing! So amazing!

Let’s eat something good like everyone!

I was moved! I was moved! I was so moved!

If you lose interest in it you throw it away, right? No matter what you make fun of the thin skinned appearance and,

as if you knew everything about me, you set your prices only with your finger tips, right?

As soon as tomorrow come we’ll be there, right? You get lured by these dirty-ish** flatteries

and you say you love it, what’s today’s daily special?

What will be your vent for this “whatever” night?

Is this “forget after all” trend a game?

“Yes yes yes yes”

Cut it out, morons.

Notes and Other

*=These two lines are a mess because they use a structure that is almost impossible to translate and adds the meaning of “doing the action to achieve something in the future”. This structure is pronounced as “oke” which, I think, is also a way to mock all the “trend people” of the song who always say “okay, okay” in their engurish making it sound like “oke”. Just speculations though.

**=it’s a slang expression, the translation doesn’t convey that “I’m young and I talk all slangy and trendy” feeling hidden in the original lyrics.

A rant song against all the people who follow trends to find their personality and ending with being just like everybody else. I think the song speaks already for itself in this sense.

Dadaroma – 月のうた (Tsuki no Uta) Translation

(I know it’s not the video of the song, but I prefer using videos uploaded by official channels instead of those uploaded by random people: it’s a form of respect towards the work of the artists and maybe a way to encourage people to buy the original albums instead of illegally downloading them.)

Title: Song of the Moon

Are you too looking up

to the night sky framed by the window?

Connect the stars with a line and trace the drawing with the fingers.

“It is said that they can take you to an invisible starry sky.”

My voice screaming from here

will become the moon lighting your night.

Your smiling face, which looks sadder than a crying face,

hides the traces of your tears in your eyelids,

and if you paid attention to the night of a solitary person, we would bump into each other.

“I fell into the night and I could hear the sound of your tears.”

Because your voice screaming from over there

will become the moon lighting my night.

Because the sound of all the tears you cried

will become the reason of my singing.

Because our voices screaming from here

will become the moon lighting our night.

Because the sound of the tears fallen in the night sky

will become the moon lighting our night.

Notes and Other

A really straightforward song, it looks like a song to thank the fans. A really touching song which, thanks to its simplicity, stands out between the other songs of the album.

Title: Risley Circus*

This is a story of one pierrot.

a.a.always rains friday or sunday or today.
here can’t see the sun and the star.
order are going crazy.crazy.crazy.crazy.
d.d.d.dirty tent is noisy as usual.
I’m a makeup with a yawn.**

I aim at the apple and the knife flies towards it,

I do tightrope walking on a shaking, thin rope,

an applause for my accomplishment is my prize

but what will happen if I can’t make it?

Ah Love me.Love me. Look at me,
Look at me only
Love me.Love me. Love me
Love me only
A trick with a tamed lion
and a cat which has seen the back alleys.
I’ll skilfully make the big elephant balance on a ball
Love me. I’m so alone.***
Even tonight the me in the mirror is laughing.

upside down.****

I aim at the apple and the knife flies towards it,

if I fall it’ll be my last tightrope walking,

an applause for my accomplishment is my prize

but how will I feel if I can’t make it?

Ah Love me.Love me. Look at me,
Look at me only
Love me.Love me. Love me
Love me only
A trick with a tamed, killed lion
and a cat disappeared in the back alleys.
I’ll skilfully make the big elephant balance on a ball
Love me. This is the end.

I’ll jest tonight and even tomorrow.

The us in the mirror are…

The us in the mirror are…

Our dear you is…

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*=I’ve seen many horrible translations of this title, but I can assure 100% that the right translation is “Risley Circus” which is a reference to circus trick of balancing or rolling objects while upside down on a chair and using one’s own feet. The meaning is that Dadaroma compare themselves to clowns, entertaining people with their performance, seeing the world in a different way (because they’re upside down), considered worthy of some value only until they can make people laugh.

**= Another reference to the clown world. The meaning here is that he’s not himself but the character who he pretends to be.

***=can also be translated as “(love) only me”.

****=another reference to the Risley Circus.

The song is about how Dadaroma think the people look at them: clowns criticizing society to entertain the public. This image of the clown pops out in some other song from the album, for example the title itself of the album is “Stanczyk” who was a jester in the past.

16 post after: updates and news

You can’t even imagine how difficult is for me to start writing such content-less posts, so this time I won’t even bother and start right away skipping any form of introduction.

So, as you can see, now there a “translations” link up above the site which leads to the list of translations on this blog. I want you to notice that because it forced me to ask for help to “a person” (told ya I’m shit with these things). Anyway, looking to the data of the blog it seems it is coming in handy to many people out there so I’ll let a silent “fuck yeah man” echo inside myself.

Moreover, I hope I stunned you with the quantity of translation I provided in this two weeks, and I hope you to remain stunned for a bit more because I need to work on some other things in this period so I’ll necessarily slow down the rhythm.

Ah, Dadaroma’s last album is a masterpiece.

That’s it.

I know, there’s no content in this post.

I’m just trying to make this post longer.

Yes.

Bye.

ペンタゴン(Pentagon) – ポップコーンモンスター (Pop Corn Monster)

Kanji-Romaji

Translation

Let’s join this parade of dreams and hope holding our hands,

we are all friends, but we march all by ourselves.

When we were child, the world we dreamt was like a panorama,

and it spun and spun like a merry-go-round, as if we were white rabbits striving (to reach it).

If we proceed to know the difference between good and evil, the world would become misty

and the Ferris wheel will only bring up the desires…

“So, to all the adults.

What do you think our young children lack?

Temper? Good-sense? Morals? Good environment? Resolution? Dreams? Hope?

That must be it. So, as we thought, what they lack,

shouldn’t we avoid to speak about it to our young children, should we?”

It’s not like that!

Popcorn Monster,

we are not your toys,

we are not your clown, so scream!

Popcorn Monster,

The dreams, the hope and all the rest have become misty,

if we threw away everything, in the end

the radiant world would already be dead by now.

If you look around, you’ll see an unbelievable mirror house,

it reflects everything and my dirty self is in it.

“So, dear young people.

I understand you saying you don’t want to do this and that,

but, you see, you don’t even find things you want to do,

if you start to work, you soon say you want to stop,

isn’t that too selfish, is it?

Always saying that person is like that, that one is no good,

before worrying about the others, try to go on a bit more!”

Popcorn Monster,

we are not your toys,

we are not your clown, so scream!

Popcorn Monster,

Being alone is sad, that cup of coffee,

round and round, you keep stirring it.

Popcorn Monster,

let’s dance tonight,

come on, forget everything.

Popcorn Monster,

play with me,

come on, throw away everything.

Enjoy your holiday in this closed amusement park.

Notes and Other

Really interesting song about the misunderstanding between adults and the new generations of young people in Japan: if you know a bit about it, you also know that is quite a big problem. The adults see younger people as monster with no will nor expectations or hopes and keep trying to impose old moral that won’t fit the time we live, young people try to contrast these morals, but even so they aren’t monsters: they’re just people living a deep cultural crisis, non harmful monster, popcorn monster.

Visual kei genre, consisting in many young bands, heavily reflects these feeling in its works (hiding all this behind the lyrics and visuals of the songs), so it’s no surprise finding such a song.

DIV -イケナイKISS (Ikenai KISS) Translation

Kanji-Romaji

Title: Wrong KISS

Why does that make you so mad?

I don’t understand it, Still get my heart racing for you

LOVE FRIDAY Those words that I would like to hear drown out in the noises.

You won with gossips indulging on the morals, a dress code of sly scandals

and things obtained with faked situations? You are like a star whose gilt is getting unstuck.

Secret meetings, my brains keeps making secret plans, I only have a few time to explain…

A wrong KISS, my sight blurs,

while this stroboscope and the scandal won’t stop.

Let’s run away BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE

somewhere ONE NIGHT, ALL NIGHT, ALL RIGHT?

It’s not easy like an “easy and off” sticker*,

the sticker attached to us, whose property is it?

Let’s find an uncivilized place and go there, that will be our original future.

Wrong KISS, premature cherry**,

I plucked everything without being satisfied,

let’s wet these DRY, DRY, DRY, vulgar people.

Why does that make you so mad?

I don’t understand it, Still get my heart racing for you

LOVE FRIDAY Those words that I would like to hear drown out in the noises.

And suddenly the main character of the story I desired isn’t Yellow Kid***,

all the actors aren’t here yet, right? Let’s walk once again this red carpet.

Wrong KISS, premature cherry**,

I plucked everything without being satisfied,

Wet me, DRY DRY DRY

everywhere ONE NIGHT, ALL NIGHT, ALL MY LIFE

So, you still hadn’t enough of these wrong KISS?

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*= stickers that can be attached, detached and reattached many times. In this context they refer to the relationship meaning that relation can’t be started, finished and restarted that easily.

**=the cherry is a symbol for virginity (especially men’s virginity).

***=Yellow Kid is the character of an old comic, his peculiarity are his stupidity and the fact the instead of speaking in balloons the words are written on his yellow vest. I still don’t fully understand the meaning of this reference here, maybe that the main character is not so stupid as he seems (I’ll try to figure it out).

The song talks about love cheating and the excitement that the person who commits it can feel along with all the hopes for a new future. It’s a peculiar point of view, don’t you think? There are so many songs about cheating singed by those who suffered it, this one is really original.

Dadaroma – Kurt Translation

Kanji-Romaji

Translation

The magnificent world

that we dreamt of when we were child,

the drunk hyenas* spoiled it,

it was made by papier mache**.

Hey Kurt***, if it was you,

what song would you sing?

I’ll strum my Fender Jaguar

and sing a song in the night in whom the stars are dead.

I want you to make me see again, again,

that stupid dream, just like that day.

I found it somewhere

and I played like I was in trance.

I couldn’t hear

the sound of the electric guitar of that moment.

Tell me Kurt***, if it was you,

what song would you sing?

I’ll strum my Fender Jaguar

and waste my voice in the night in whom the stars are dead

and there won’t be any reason to want to change something.

Anyway it goes, violate**** my heart,

violate**** it.

ah.
Rather be dead than cool.*****
Rather be dead than cool.
Rather be dead than cool.
ah.

I’ll strum my Fender Jaguar

right here, more, more, more, yeah…

and I’ll sing a song in the night in whom the stars are dead.

Anyway it goes, violate**** my heart,

violate**** it.

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*=Dadaroma used this words in SEX! to indicate the people who control society and pollute it. So it’s like a self reference, maybe we’ll see this word used more and more in their upcoming songs.

**=a really poor crafting material, it also breaks easily, so it’s relevant that this words is linked to “dream” in the song.

***=Yes, it’s Kurt Cobain, there are many hints that suggest that.

****=it is a very violent and crude verb, it also the meaning of “to rape” and “break into” and many other dark meanings.

*****=these are famous lines from Nirvana’s “Stay Away”, the biggest reference to Kurt Cobain.

I think this song speaks for itself, so I’m not going any further with my explanation.
