DIV – Butterfly Dreamer Translation

Kanji-Romaji

Translation

The unending rain is in stripes, the me who stands still is kept prisoner,

the wind which blows against me is the border, I’m caught in this entangled net.

BUTTERFLY DREAMER

Rain drops, someone’s tears, and a playing parade.

This trampled sheet music won’t reach the people who put themselves first,

their business foothold, which just pay attention to avoid the mud, are already over the staff quota

and even if they were defeated…

The unending rain is in stripes, the me who stands still is kept prisoner,

the wind which blows against me is the border, I’m caught in this entangled net.

BUTTERFLY DREAMER

The scenery we gazed at on our tiptoes looks like a mirage,

like a collapsing painting.

We shut ourselves away in this virtual world built over the grid of our cells,

who will be next target? It’s like an audition for people-plaything.

BUTTERFLY DREAMER

Fluttering, the proofs of the so-called reality fade,

what kept on rotting until this time

was the dream of a butterfly.

It was just a bird dreaming to gaze upon a castle towering over irrationality,

now, open your wings of the colours of a dream so that my song can finally reach you

BUTTERFLY DREAMER

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

The title is a reference to Zhuangzi‘s quote which states that we can’t distinguish whether the reality is a dream or dream is reality.

The message of this song is: “What if this world of injustice and suffering was nothing but a dream?”. If this is the case, we could start over a new life, we just need to wake up from our dream.
