Dadaroma – 「Happy Halloween」 Translation

Kanji-Romaji

Translation

“Have yourself Creepy Halloween”

Using a “party” as excuse,

let’s start a nonsensical banquet!

Let’s light the fires in our houses!

I won’t have mercy on you! Trick or Treat

Even cheap prostitutes and sore losers

forget the tomorrow and dress up.

Choose your dress, wear your mantle,

“Tonight I’ll be the monster”

Let’s play hide-and-seek in this orange darkness!

Put your mask of something else over your mask.

The pumpkin laughs and the hermit laughs too,

zombies play zombie-tag*.

Tonight This is Halloween

“Have yourself Creepy Halloween!”

Mosh with your blood-stained lollipops in your hands.

Tonight This is Halloween

“Have yourself Creepy Halloween!”

Mosh with your blood-stained lollipops in your hands.

I’m scared (I’m scared)

to You! (to You!)

This party is very filthy!

It’s fun? (fuck yeah!)

Of course ( Fuck yeah!)

I’ll forget everything

“Those who fell and cried for the DAC Apple Game**

are the ones who lose!”

——Cutting line——

I want to embrace each and everyone of your lamentations

and forget just tonight.

So let’s dance, you and me,

until this night the dream will vanish into daybreak.

And if you put on your scraped dress there

it will start one more time from the beginning…

——Cutting Line—–

“Have yourself Creepy Halloween”

Let’s dance together with this orange darkness!

What you hid under your mask is your heart.

The pumpkin laughs and the hermit laughs too,

everyone is alone.

Tonight This is Halloween

“Have yourself Creepy Halloween!”

Mosh with your blood-stained lollipops in your hands.

Tonight This is Halloween

“Have yourself Creepy Halloween!”

Mosh with your blood-stained lollipops in your hands.

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*= it’s a pun with “tag” since in Japanese it literally translates “pretend to be demons”, but since it’s zombies who play it became “pretend to be zombies”…I preferred to translate it as “zombie-tag” though…

**= Really no idea of what they are talking of here, I translated literally but it doesn’t make sense to me: if you have any suggestions please tell me.

Overall, it’s the classic Halloween theme, Dadaroma just added their own style and twist making another song against society.

Title: Tin

To strong people like you

this twisted sound is impossible to hear, right?

In the laughs overflowing the city

this tin sound is vanishing.

To strong people like you

this scratching sound is impossible to hear, right?

In the laughs overflowing the city

this tin sound is vanishing.

To strong people like you

this collapsing sound is impossible to hear, right?

In your own laughs

this tin* sound is vanishing.

To strong people like you

this crumbling sound is impossible to hear, right?

In the laughs overflowing the city

this tin* sound is vanishing.

1st person: “Party”

2nd person: “Suicide”

3rd person: “Party”

4th person: “Suicide”

5th person: “Let’s be friends!”

Ah…

Someone pointed there.

Someone pointed here.

Many people guessed right

and decided God.

You can’t hear it, right?

You can’t hear it, right?

You can’t hear it, right?

You can’t hear it, right?

So…

1st person: “Party”

2nd person: “Suicide”

3rd person: “Party”

4th person: “Suicide”

5th person: “Let’s be friends!”

Uh…

If you wait for the morning the stars will vanish

and if you wait for the night the sun will sink

and if rain doesn’t fall flowers wither

and if that child laughs

you cry

you cry

you cry

You can’t sing the waltz

you cry

you cry

you cry

Notes and Other

*= In the lyrics it’s written as “tin sound” but Yoshiatsu sings it as “my sound”.

A song criticizing society: the message is that all people who think that are so strong cannot hear or understand the desperation and the message of Dadaroma’s song.

Romaji: Maybe one day

Translation

Title: Meteor

The sun shines,

inside the train of the Odakyuu line

there’s that girl.

Even now she’s left out,

no love relationship,

not longing for anything at all.

The music from the cellphone

is a stabilizer.

The welcoming of a company, a small sky,

I compare my dizziness

to the image I painted out,

ah, enough…

This can’t be…

Once again

I want

to continue.

The neon shimmers,

the city illuminates the trash,

my hears which don’t know of old age

are the proof of my resolution.

I check

the new song,

the disco is the space.

It is musk scented,

the inside of the dream for you.

Without strength we float

in this endless void,

puff puff…

Round and round,

let’s ride and asteroid

and let’s go everywhere!

O-Oh!

Round and round,

let’s ride on the mirror ball,

and even if it’s just a meteor,

why don’t we set off for a trip?

You said that

in the place we saw that time

there was something.

And we dance

in the moment before death

of this twinkle twinkling star.

If we confess*

I’ll take you

to a even lighter place.

The boy I like

tonight where

will be clapping**?

The sound he played

will eventually vanish

in the tomorrow?

The plasma

running bolt

will make my head spin.

The fluid

sparkles of black hair,

it seems like I heard

such a song about this.

I don’t know,

where’s the night?

You know it.

I want to see the morning.

That girl until morning

goes to club events,

that guy is inside his dreams even during the day.

Without permission, the sun rays

break in,

I go back home from the club.

Inside my hears,

it ties and resounds.

From the ring of the phone,

a complete change, progress.

The notification sound

is from your name.

Round and round,

let’s ride on the mirror ball,

and even if it’s just a meteor,

why don’t we set off for a trip?

You said that

in the place we saw that time

there was something.

And we dance

in the moment before death

of this twinkle twinkling star.

If we confess*

I’ll take you

to a even lighter place.

Round and round,

let’s ride on the mirror ball,

and even if it’s just a meteor,

why don’t we set off for a trip?

You said that

in the place we saw that time

there was something.

And we dance

in the moment before death

of this twinkle twinkling star.

If we confess*

I’ll take you

to a even lighter place.

Even if it’s just a meteor, why don’t we set off for a trip?

Notes and Other

*= the verb may mean “to confess” as well as “make something lighter”: it’s a simple pun.

**= it’s an onomatopoeic words which has many meaning, like “clapping with a nice sound” and “constantly blinking” or it can be the sound of something hot bursting open.

I love the flow of the song and the way the lyrics have been written: it’s a simple song unveiling the emotions of the girl by painting them with small traits, little by little.

I like it I don’t like it

I like it I don’t like it

I don’t like it I don’t like it I don’t like it I don’t like it

I’m the human personification of a terrible thing like

giving up in the middle of self-satisfaction.

Even if I plan to live my whole life as a pet dog,

I arouse my blood by being covered in hurts.

It’s fine now?* (HATE)

Not yet* (HATE)

It’s fine now?*

Persist on your loving

I haven’t shown it to anyone (HATE)

It’s fine now?

Now, now it’s fine, right?

A mandatory LET’S GO

I hate it I like it

I like it I don’t like it

I like it I don’t like it

I hate it I like it

I don’t like it I don’t like it I don’t like it

I love it

I don’t like myself, I can’t love.

I don’t like my voice and my face too, I hate it.

Even today I’ll pretend to laugh, I can’t love.

My past is my dead future, I hate it.

Whose fault is it?

It’s not my fault.

We all masturbate, we’ll never give birth to anything.

What a waste, it’s like a monkey show in which we have secret love affairs.

Desperation is just fine.

If you throw away your self, you’ll awake.

It’s fine now?* (HATE)

Not yet* (HATE)

It’s fine now?*

Persist on your loving

I haven’t shown it to anyone (HATE)

It’s fine now?

Now, now it’s fine, right?

Rise again LET’S GO

I like it I don’t like it

I hate it I like it

I like it I don’t like it

I like it I don’t like it

I hate it I like it

I don’t like it I don’t like it I don’t like it

I love it

I don’t like you, I can’t love.

I don’t like even dad and mum, I hate them.

I would like to see all of you hurt, I can’t love.

We are just living machines, I hate us all.

Whose fault is it?

It’s not my bad.

I like it I don’t like it

I hate it I like it

I like it I don’t like it

I like it I don’t like it

I hate it I like it

I don’t like it I don’t like it I don’t like it

I love it

Don’t look at your own mirror

and come back to life.

If you look at what’s beyond, you will resuscitate,

that’s place of your future experiences.

That’s it, but even so

the step I made

after the self confidence is COOL

but both pain and depression continues

ON MY MIND

Double check

your initial beliefs, one more time

remember them.

Your annoying days,

turn them upside down.

It is so annoying

it becomes strong.

Your inside which tries to stay calm

by looking left right, by looking down,

can’t reach anybody.

The only thing that can reach

is you.

Create a short-cut

to reality,

to the whole universe, to the whole world.

Become matchless LET’S GO

Confess,

show what you depend on,

change everything,

tear off the veil,

and once it’s all torn apart

unveil what’s inside.

You lost sight of

how much time has passed.

The treasure,

where has it gone?

It beat

and opened.

Remember

the urge of the beginnings,

the green spring,

how everything started,

that is the true

marrow of reality.

We are all the same

Corrupted We fight each other

Your life

Everyone’s life

let’s turn it into a one chance gamble.

Notes and Other

*= words used by the person counting in the Japanese version of hide-and-seek, it gives that “playful” vibe to the song.

A song about being human: we all like something, we all dislike something, we all fear something, we all suffer, our life are nothing but one shot gambles.

Unfortunately it’s impossible to reproduce in the translation how the song plays in the original (lyric-wise I mean) but I tried my best.

Dadaroma – 夢タラレバ (Yume Tarareba) Translation

Kanji-Romaji

Translation

Title: If it was just a dream…

From a gently colored faucet semen drops,

in the night of the Dakota*, the imitators play tag.

My mind is dead, but my tear is not dead.
Why is it?

I melted into the night, what if it was just a dream…

This philosophy of laughing,

will you teach me such an impossible thing to me?

Look behind this picture story show, don’t be alone

and close your eyes in your lukewarm coffee time.

As soon as the sun falls down everyone becomes gentle

and pretend not to see.

My mind is dead, but my tear is not dead.
Why is it?

I melted into the night, what if it was just a dream…

This philosophy of laughing,

will you teach me such an impossible thing to me?

It’s already too late, it won’t come back, my shivering heart

melted into this meaningless scotch whisky.

John Lennon** is dead

John Lennon** is dead

John Lennon** is dead

John Lennon** is dead

I melted into the night, what if it was just a dream…

I get embraced by Alan***,

inside the cities there are just lies.

Behind the picture story show there is nothing?

If only the me of that time could come back…

I melted into the night, what if it was just a dream…

This philosophy of laughing,

I get used to the things impossible to me.

It’s already too late, it won’t come back, but if I could wish of something,

please embrace me…

Notes and Other

Words in italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*=The “Dakota” is the last hotel in which John Lennon slept with Yoko Ono before he died.

**=Yep, it’s truly the John Lennon we all know.

***=I’m not sure who this Alan is supposed to be: there are too many Alan who worked together with the Beatles.

We all know the words “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one” written by John Lennon and I think Yoshiatsu took inspiration from such words to write a song about not being able to dream about a future, but just wishing to dream in order to forget.

In the obscuring field of vision

there’s the unchanging scenery

in which I walked until now without stopping.

Without realizing it, even if I was wounded,

I only looked forward

and this torn apart sound is mincing my brain

Notes and Other

*=it’s a pun: the word means “easy” but it’s written by using the kanji for “darkness”.

**=it seems there’s some kind of a pun in “abracadabra” but I couldn’t understand it because it’s censored (is it something so indecent?). If any of you has an idea please tell me.

This song was very hard to translate because of all the puns and the trendy words or expressions used in it but in the end the message is all about get crazy and have fun. If you are wondering why a “monster” themed song has been released during summer, that’s because Purple Stone tried to start the “Summer Halloween” trend… I still don’t know if it has become a thing or not, but they were confident for sure about this.

But in the end it’s a very catchy and live-like song: I like it.

As soon as I threw something, nothing changed anyway.

Even now I’m worm eaten by the scorn and tomorrow too, tomorrow too I’ll keep on living.

What’s the destination of the voice I’m giving to you and which is the getting hoarser and hoarser?

“You won’t get rid of the lies you told until now and the lies you will tell from now on, right?”

and you get crushed by a scenery which seems unreal.

As soon as I threw something, nothing changed anyway.

Even now I’m worm eaten by the scorn and tomorrow too, tomorrow too I’ll keep on living.

I would like to keep believing that only the light you gave me

will shine forever over me, but it won’t come back.

As soon as I threw something, nothing changed anyway.

Even now I’m worm eaten by the scorn but even so, even so, even so

We live like this, searching for a light,

after all, living after all.

Who knows, maybe it’s useless, but what’s that’s shining?

Notes and Other

An other indie band that caught my attention, I really love their peculiar style in both lyrics and music.

The song is about the meaning of life: even though it seems that, no matter what, we can’t change a single thing in our life, we keep on living, searching for a light that we’ll never be able to grasp. Even so, we keep moving on, maybe that untouchable light is the meaning itself.

Title: At the end of a love, cherry flowers scatter dancing.

In this station where we spent together

the days passing frenetically of these turning seasons, we part.

If I look up, even the sky seems somehow

of a sad colour.

The things we can see, look, they shine.

I finally realized it: since you changed

everything of me, you also changed all of my future.

At the end of March, on the smiling face of you, who waved your hand

from the platform of the last calling of my train, your eyes were veiled by tears.

We couldn’t say goodbye,

as if we could meet once more in this station of cherry trees.

I suddenly remembered those days when

we used to walk through the rows of cherry trees while laughing.

The me and you of that time were young

and wanted so hard to believe in everything.

Even the promise on which we swore has broken.

Even our “You are my everything” have been forgotten.

At the end of March, the last calling of my train from the platform,

you on the other side of the window on which I reflect with my suit

are illuminated by the city lights

and the cherry flowers fleetingly were falling and dancing.

In the swaying train, the inside of my eyes became somehow warm and I thought it was strange,

I wonder if it was because of the happiness of that moment.

Even in this evening you fairly earned you will go to the apartment of that cute girl waiting for you,

but even so, for some reason, the scenery of the night

when you, who waved at me, walked past me is fading away.

Somehow we parted, I couldn’t forget your serious smile

and say goodbye.

I’m a sly, lacking of self-respect, stupid person, that’s just it…

At the end of a love, cherry flowers scatter dancing.

At the end of a love, cherry flowers scatter dancing.

At the station of the cherry trees where I go no more

next time I’ll say you goodbye.

Notes and Other

Very emotional and strong song by Secondwall, really looking forward to listen of some other works by this band.

Hold up your boobs,

The bra seen

through your t-shirt is

my daydreams about BOOBS.

BOOBS

Untie the hook

and let me see them free.

Thank you for blessing me with boobs!*

They jiggle, jiggle,

indecently jiggle.

I won’t let go of them**,

I want to touch them even if they seem to tear apart.

They jiggle, jiggle,

quietly jiggle.

It seems that I’m crumbling because of them**,

doesn’t it?

Notes and Other

*=They used “いただきます” which is an expression usually said before eating and roughly translates to “I’m thankful for what I receive”.

**=”君のこと” is usually used to indicate “all the things about a person” and it’s usually followed by verbs like “know” or similar, but here it seems they are hinting to the boobs since the verb used is “to not let go”.

Yes, it’s a song about boobs, and it also has notes. Yes.
