Title: Manifesto of the 8th time*

My dear beloved you,

In the day starting now there’s nothing to be scared of,

try to overcome everything.

My dear you,

Don’t be like those douches mocking self confidence! That body of yours can be broke?

How in the hell is that possible? Tell me!

“Wait a second” No way, I can’t wait “It’s always like that”**

We just live fast and recklessly.

There’s no future? Not at all? Is that a lie? Or a show for the afterlife?

Life is a game!

I want to die I want to die But I want to live.

There’s no future? Not at all? Is that a lie? Or a show for the afterlife?

I can’t reset what I’ve done.

But even so you keep going on, right? How’s that possible?

My dear you,

Pretending to be able to handle things where is going to take you?

If you want to raise your voice and cry, please do me a favour and get out.

I don’t get it “Look here” It’s always like that**

It’s just a bunch of lies, no good, no good!

There’s no future? Not at all? Is that a lie? Or a show for the afterlife?

Everywhere is a game!

I want to live I want to live But I want to die.

There’s no future? Not at all? Is that a lie? Or a show for the afterlife?

Aren’t you too like that?

To be saved by a person you trust, how does it sound?

Nobody understands that my face is smiling but my hearts is crying.

Nobody can see through me, everybody just doesn’t care, isn’t that so?

But after all we are just like everyone else.

But even so you keep going on, right? How’s that possible?

Notes and Other

*=I guess the title is a reference to the famous Japanese saying 七転び八起き (Fall down 7 times, get up 8 times) which basically means “It doesn’t matter how many times you fail the important thing is that you get up/recover every time”. So the 8th time it’s when you get up again.

**= In the video it’s shown pretty well that two different people are speaking and in the lyrics that a little more difficult to see so I decided to make the speech marks of one of the two in bold in order to distinguish them.

I guess I can’t stop loving the positive vibe this kind of songs give me so I’ll keep on translating them from time to time.

Title: To you

My only you, the only one in the world,

in the instant I met you I was charmed.

You always blame me because of my anxiety,

but I just want to stay by your side, that alone would be fine.

Please, look only at me, please stay always by my side,

because if I can laugh near you, I will be happy.

I knew love was pain and suffering.

Why did we met? It still difficult for me to remember.

If you slipped by my hands* I would cry because I want to meet you.

Even the tears I cry for you are lovely and I gulp all of them down.

If this is down-pouring despair for you, everything about me…

please, don’t go!

If you slipped by my hands* I would cry because I want to meet you.

Even the tears I cry for you are lovely and I gulp all of them down.

I don’t want to forget you, I don’t want to part from you.

Please, will my desire even reach you? Even now, I still want to meet you, meet you.

Notes and Other

*= the word they actually use is 溢れ出す (Afuredasu) which literally means “to overflow” but also conveys the idea of these untameable feelings that cannot be contained or hidden and makes the word itself pretty much impossible to decently translate.

Dadaroma – 愁いリビド- (Urei Libido) Translation

Kanji-Romaji

Translation

Title: Distressed Libido

Our tongues intertwine, we use our hips skilfully*, that’s a distressed libido.

The unorthodox night of our encounter

I noticed it, on your left arm

your ring.

I crept into your half dried lips,

that ring of yours makes me go crazy.

Since, compared to get hurt, being alone is scary,

it’s fine just for now for our bodies to get sweaty,

violently entangle me.

When tomorrow comes, when tomorrow comes, everything about you

I will have forgotten it, that’s for sure…

From the blind gap a light,

so dazzling it can be seen through,

please let me sleep with you again.

But just a farewell letter, you lingering scent

and your absence, that’s what you left

in the city night.

In the night, alone, I can’t tame my instinct,

where are you now?

Since it must have been just a game for you as well

I guess you won’t come back, that’s fine,

I’ll just push myself to accept it by force.

When tomorrow comes, when tomorrow comes, everything about you

will become no more useful, that’s for sure…

Please, give me that warmth now,

come sleep into my arms.

So please, please, crave for me

to the point you can’t see no more

nor tomorrow nor the past.

When tomorrow comes, when tomorrow comes, everything about you

will I have forgotten it?

But that’s fine,

just hold me tight right now.

Notes and Other

*=yeah, I know it is an horrible way to say “to have sex” in English, but in Japanese it’s an extremely sexy line.

One of the many song about casual sex by Dadaroma, but still an interesting side track of the single.

Title: The formula of the rotten orange*

Many drawing pins have been scattered on the floor

and we get to go out of the room walking barefoot.

The children born by coherence

are forced to follow the rails basing on their interests.

We run on a rail since we were born.

Since we were born

Since we were born

We run on a rail since we were born.

Since we were born

Since we were born

(We are told that) Black is white and blue is red,

the people in charge act violent against weaker genders.

That poor Madonna in the class she transferred to

is sobbing without even knowing why.

We run on a rail since we were born.

Since we were born

Since we were born

We run on a rail since we were born.

Since we were born

Since we were born

The class of fake

That girl has many bruises on her inside

(made by) that sperm which showed her the contradiction of this society.

So who’s rotten orange*?

“Who’s the rotten orange*?”

On the last night, me and my blade

will aim to the artery of that despicable you.

So who’s rotten orange*?

“Who’s the rotten orange*?”

The end will come so fast it won’t even be satisfying,

and your last word will only be “Why?”. (Ahah)

So who’s rotten orange*? (Ahah)

“Who’s the rotten orange*?”

Ah, I’ve forgotten my umbrella,

the rain is so noisy…

Notes and Other

Words in italic are in English in the original lyrics

*=it’s the Japanese equivalent of the “rotten apple” in many Occidental sayings.

Pretty dark song full of hatred against society depicting us as forced to follow the rails of who has decisional power. The parts integrated with the () are part of my interpretations and maybe are not correct (even though they make more sense to me).

R指定 (R-Shitei) – 愛國革命 (Aikoku Revolution) Translation

Title: Patriotic Revolution

Program for national prosperity,

in the westernized Heisei era cities have become digital

and fled at speed of light from the streets,

today, the presenter will scream for the surrounds.

To all the citizens*,

in the name of Japanese flag*,

just like the kamikaze*

log into life!

“Make the flowers sprout for Japan!”*

If you wish for virtue**

scatter defeat.

It’s time to show our manifesto,

to log out from tears!

“Glory to the heroes of the Japanese Spirit!”

“Everyone, bow!”

It’s time for a patriotic revolution!

Oh yeah

It’s time for a patriotic revolution!

Oh yeah

It’s time for a patriotic revolution!

Oh yeah

It’s time for a patriotic revolution!

Okay?

Okay!

Okay?

Okay!

“To all the sick and tired citizens*! The time of revolution has come!”

Hail to the Japanese flag!

Hail! Hail!

Hail to the Japanese flag!

Let’s chant all together as a nation our curricula,

Someone planted this brainwash into our mind.

Unidentified flying object,

five airframes: this will be our highway to skies!

I’m Japanese born

Destruction! To the ideals of these idiotic politicians***!

Destruction! Let’s declare war to the Powers of the state!

Destruction! Let’s blow away this sick society!

Destruction! Let’s bring revolution to all Japan!

In the name of a dark patriotism,

they crossed over banks

and confusionary mass media,

who did all this was

“An association of an unidentified evil”

Even when you’re drowning in adversity

the sun will rise from the East.

Let’s delete our sadness

and look at the future.

“March for the revolution!”

“Everyone, bow!”

It’s time for a patriotic revolution!

Oh yeah

It’s time for a patriotic revolution!

Oh yeah

It’s time for a patriotic revolution!

Oh yeah

It’s time for a patriotic revolution!

Okay?

Okay!

Okay?

Okay!

Notes and Other

Words in italic are in English in the original lyrics

*=these are all terms used in the propaganda during the military regime in Japan (1926-1944): they all have a strong nationalistic meaning, something that conveys the idea that “Japan has a unique and superior culture and history”. This message was used to justify the submission of many east-Asia people during that period.

**= the word may mean “virtue” but it is also the name of the Era in which Japan “reunited” as a nation, so maybe the meaning is “if you want to be one as a nation again”.

***= in the song it is read as “adults”

Before anyone starts to accuse R-Shitei of nationalism (and/or racism) for writing this song, I would like to remember to you that this is an artistic product and has no political value. Also, knowing that R-Shitei have written many controversial song just to make people upset, it’s important to see that, even though this is a nationalistic themed song, there are many English key words in the song so it looks like they’re mocking such ideals. To me, it just looks like an anthem to young Japanese boys living in a time which suffocate them, a way to tell them that they’re special in their own way.

Title: Sakuran Trance Destiny*

Yes, it was the day of the promise I longed so much for

The girl I was going to meet in the season of sprouting flowers

was a quiet girl.

In that day of one year ago,

it felt like it was destiny,

like it was magic.

I can see you

but that silhouette is ugly,

but you don’t need such opinion,

you whose heart shows through.

Yes, it was the day of the promise in which wind was blowing strongly

I was going to meet you in the season of sprouting flowers,

I had the form of a demon.

The distance between the two us walking at a casual speed shortened

and yet again it was this season.

Cherry flowers falling scatter,

I can’t show my true form,

I was suffering because of the cherry flowers, I averted my eyes and kept avoiding the moment.

We can’t meet anymore in the time where cherry flowers fall,

because I’ve shown my true form to that girl.

A safe light was hidden inside that form**

and I wanted to show you my hidden to eyes heart,

but I crushed to death that feeling of my heart almost flying off my chest

and killed my true voice almost flying off my throat.

I turned my head, why don’t we say goodbye? And suddenly loneliness disappeared and I showed you my smile.

Those innocent two, who couldn’t understand if that was the beginning of a love story,

gently took each other’s hand and made a love promise.

In the now in which cherry flowers fall disorderly there’s that safe light.

In the now in which cherry flowers fall disorderly I couldn’t say anything, it’s so irritating.

And when spring ends… you won’t be here anymore

I want to convey my feelings before cherry flowers stop falling and scatter, but right now I’m collapsing and I’m afraid and our hands slowly separate.

Lalulala Those two, a promise in spring,

I pray to meet one more time.

Lalulala The next promise,

even though next spring is still far…

Notes and Other

*= I really can’t find a proper way to translate the title in english. “Sakuran” normally means “confusion” but it’s written with the kanji for “Cherry flowers” and “Disorder”: the meaning is that the main character seems destined to fall into some sort of trance every time cherry flowers fall disorderly.

**=this time is the form of the girl.

My favourite song of Black Gene for the Next Scene, I really don’t know why nobody translated it until now.

Plastic Tree – サイレントノイズ (Silent Noise) Translation

Kanji

Romaji: incoming

Translation

The train platform is completely empty, the last train is passing through,

it feels like I reached the end of the dream and I laugh.

If you follow the Destiny line* you’ll reach the theatrical Shinjuku,

and after they tied and untied, what does remain in our palm?

Love is to achieve compassion and, even though the sample version of it is just fine,

it keeps re-updating, sentimentalism is to live the ordinary everyday.

Moments, the reason why after-images passi through my heart one day will disappear

and the past: if you mix all of these and play it back, a silent noise will echo in the world.

When crows dance high in the sky, they look like black angels

but when they silently hum it just seems silly.

The sense of values changes from person to person, but who’s behind the mask?

The verification of our futile lives is our recurring problem.

If you put on the scale me, you, we’ll be in perfect symmetry

and in this place where there’s no certain things, the late constellations shine.

Moments, the reason why after-images pass through my heart one day will disappear

and the past: if you mix all of these and play it back, it will just repeat over and over.

But inside of it, in the void of so many seconds, how many times have you longed for something and fell down?

It may seem just a love affair done all by ourselves, but if you change its colours it will upgrade.

The train platform is already far away, by the windows there are just groups of building like gravestones.

As if to announce that the dream has come to the end, the twilight comes.

Notes and Other

*=it’s written as if it was a train line.

Classic Plastic Tree song: I love the calm feeling they are able to convey with their words in this kind of songs. Enjoy.
