Yeti – Music Translation

Oh… Oh…

This Do Re Mi Fa Sol is headed far away,

a hidden music floating and sinking.

I arrange the musical notes on the sheet, I line them up with you*

and I do a Mic Check on my heart.

If my voice were to go somewhere, where would it be?

Towards the outro? Wrong, that’s not it, that’s not my aim.

It would be struggling through fields and mountains,

because, the end of your eardrums, that’s the place I want to head it.

I’m not Tchaikovsky or Chopin,

not John Lennon or Bob Dilan, but

in the entire world there only one melody,

the music to which we are dancing.

Rise, rise, the mood is rising,

swing, swing, swing your heads,

the music has linked us together.

Give, give, give everything**,

shake, shake, shake your eardrums,

because we can’t stop, we can’t end it,

Oh… Oh…

Do Re Mi Fa Sol, let everyone hear your true feelings,

understand the mysteries with this new music.

Get drunk with this rhythm and sway unsteadily,

so many times, I do a Mic check

My thoughts follow the cables, how far can they go?

It’s a gain, I like it, because I can jump at my maximum.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,

day and night, I want to deliver it, I want to, I want to.

Be it pop or blues,

it’s fine even if it is just your humming,

we head toward tomorrow and it is connected to us,

the music that you and me must protect.

Rise, rise, the mood is rising,

swing, swing, swing your heads,

the music has linked us together.

Give, give, give everything**,

shake, shake, shake your eardrums,

because we can’t stop, we can’t end it,

Oh… Oh…

Rise, rise, the mood is rising,

Rise, rise, the mood is rising,

Oh… Oh…

Notes and Others

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*= the word “arrange” and “line up” are the same verb with different meaning. Also, the second part can be translated as “I line them up for you”.

**=If you happen to know a bit of Japan, you should know that the verbs for “to give” and “to receive” are a shitty grammatical mess. In this song, the verb “to give” is used to indicate “to give to a third person” so not the singer or the band, but to all the other fans. Extremely altruistic.

Title: A feast of Imitations*

In a corner of the days we have completely forgotten

we line up with the walking people and vanish.

And while it becomes packed and we hurry

the brightness of us humans becomes only an obstacle.

We fear disarranging the line

and we follow the fate of the asleep people until we vanish.

And while we live without being judged by those inferiors to us

the vividness of us humans becomes only an obstacle.

Even our will, lost in the way and rusting,

we can’t let our body get used to it and let it fall from our hands.

The words I just spoke,

someone said them in a far away past.

They’re a permanent and immutable return to the origins,

and our future is nothing but dirty finger marks.

If we were to throw away the life we struggled and carried on until now,

we would expose its clumsiness to danger, such a careless move…

So, let’s live this enchanting and troubling life!

The meaning of this words spoken,

if I chose to twist it just for fun

trying to make it funny,

even lies would become reality.

Bland curiosity and malice,

looking out for those who exposed their fault,

all of this is the bull’s eye of an unstoppable circle.

The hermit looking for what he has lost,

the traveller worn out by his journey,

they might want to cry and scream, but waste will always remain waste,

but after getting dirty there’s the true beginning.

This life full of mistakes,

it’s still not time to throw it away, don’t you think?

Learn the pain of losing someone,

learn the joy which divides us

and then forget all that and vanish.

The words I just spoke,

someone said them in a far away past.

They’re a permanent and immutable return to the origins,

and our future is nothing but dirty finger marks.

If we were to throw away the life we struggled and carried on until now,

we would expose its clumsiness to danger, such a careless move…

So, let’s live this enchanting and troubling life…

A feast of Imitations*

Notes and Other

*=”Nisemono” is an extremely difficult word to translate. It mainly means “false imitation” but it is a word coming from ancient Buddhist texts stating that all the things we experience with our senses are nothing but illusions which blind us from the Truth but, at the same, are manifestations of it and so they’re linked to it.

Gosh how I love this song. Song that talks about living life, about the pain but also the necessity of living always get me, but this one, with its soft yet firm tone, really speaks to me deeply. I hope I conveyed this meaning and emotion to you with this translation.

Title: Last Song

Aimlessly, I stood still and waited for the wind,

I just made sure I was still wavering and breathing.

Once I realized it, I started crying in a corner of the city.

The song I heard was sweet,

even though I know nothing.

I want to live inside someone else,

so that I end up vanishing completely.

Until I wake up from this dream, if my voice still reaches you,

I will always make you sing close to me,

so that we won’t feel lonely.

There’s no sound, there are no people, even so I can live,

if there is just something to eat I’m fine.

It always seems like I’m about to break and go crazy

and vanish completely.

If one lonely night you won’t be able to sleep,

I’ll gently cuddle with you

so that we could cry strongly.

Everything vanishes away without leaving any traces in just an instant,

there’s no meaning in such a thing.

If that is really true, I will always,

always, keep screaming this beautiful lie.

Until I wake up from this dream, if my voice still reaches you,

I will always make you sing close to me,

so that we won’t feel lonely.

And if we suffer, even if we get dirty*,

we won’t avert our eyes

because we are all born here.

Every time you’ll feel sad,

I hope we can cry together close to each other.

Notes and Other

*= in Japanese this word has a more deep meaning than just “being physically dirty”, it means “being sinful, guilty” and so on.

Nice ending song for their album, telling that suffering is what makes our lives so difficult but it’s also what makes us all similar: we all share the same emotions even if we live them in a different way.

Title: Lover-catch*

The day you said goodbye to me, I became void inside.

Even though I couldn’t focus, I guess I have no chance but do something just to stay alive.

When I was walking, I started a conversation with someone, that day,

please tell me if there’s anything that even a person like me can do.

Ah, ah, I love you dearly,

hey, hey, outside look,

now, now, it’s about time so

thank you very much.

I live playing lover-catch*

Nobody cares but, what do you think?

I won’t fulfill my loneliness,

let’s love each other in vain!

Ah, ah, don’t look just at the appearance,

hey, hey, look inside,

Already, already, my heart,

nobody will ever love it.

I live playing lover-catch*

Nobody cares but, what do you think?

I won’t fulfill my loneliness,

let’s love each other in vain!

Actually, I’m lonely, actually, I’m sad,

even so, I want to live, so,

with the void inside, without being able to let my voice out,

I wait for an other visitor.

My heart

has no need for money,

someone take me with him/her, please,

I’ll be waiting here.

I’ll play lover-catch* today too.

Notes and Other

*=the word is a pun on “onigokko” which means refers to the game “catch” and roughly translates to “pretending to be devils”. In this word anyway, instead of “devil”  the word “lover” is used.

ザアザア (Xaa Xaa) – ラストダンス (Last Dance) Translation

Kanji

Translation

It’s so dark I’m sighing, a handle on the left,

Show those watch, bags, purses that anyone would envy!

You ask me what’s a thing I might want, but I even if I bought,

there’s nothing that will fill that gaping hole.

Hey you, over there,

how much are you?

I don’t even know you but

will you dance with me?

Last dance, tonight will be the best scene, like that,

and suddenly, we’ll make a deep red flower bloom under the buildings, goodnight!

When I’ll vanish,

I want to give

all my properties

to those people I don’t know.

Everything has become meaningless, I’m fine with a just a scrap of paper.

Last dance, I started running, so

without knowing anything, if you realize it, you’ll see this a lonely and desolate world.

Last dance, tonight will be the best scene, like that,

and suddenly, we’ll make a deep red flower bloom under the buildings, goodnight!

Notes and Other

A song I really liked from their latest album.

Title: Sloppy

Thursday afternoon, a necklace, a triangular park,

on the phone, my younger days, a failed work, cherry tree flowers…

Let’s go home, the crows are cawing, the day I got a cold,

there are no lenses, since no one will come I’m alone,

a guardrail, is it fine now? It’s fine!*

My heart can’t really fit

into the akasatanahamayarawa**, I guess…

Lovely, painful, I’m crying.

I’m laughing, getting angry, feeling sick,

If you’ll ever realize…

I’ve become sloppy, I’m a creep

I’ve become sloppy, you fall down senseless

I’ve become sloppy, without saying anything,

I’ve become sloppy, I’ve become sloppy.

I’ve become sloppy, I’m dirty

I’ve become sloppy, I’m keeping you in my arms

I’ve become sloppy, to the point I can’t say anything

I’ve become sloppy, I’ve become sloppy.

The boss is annoying, the sound of an alarm, the infirmary room is white, there are no cars,

that time, 7×8, until late night, I love you, a ring…

Shinagawa, the toilet door, it’s broken,

we crossed path, under the cardboard,

there’s no lock to the bike, since I must get up at 6 tomorrow, let’s go to bed already.

My heart can’t really fit

into the akasatanahamayarawa**, I guess…

Lovely, painful, I’m crying.

I’m laughing, getting angry, feeling sick,

If you’ll ever realize…

I’ve become sloppy, I’m a creep

I’ve become sloppy, you fall down senseless

I’ve become sloppy, without saying anything,

I’ve become sloppy, I’ve become sloppy.

I’ve become sloppy, I’m dirty

I’ve become sloppy, I’m keeping you in my arms

I’ve become sloppy, to the point I can’t say anything

I’ve become sloppy, I’ve become sloppy.

Lalalalalala

Lalalalalala

Lalalalalala

Lalalalalala

Lovely, painful, I’m crying.

I’m laughing, getting angry, feeling sick,

Betrayal, you betrayed me and I’m in shambles,

why? why is that?

I would have been fine if I didn’t know anything,

Dark sky, red clouds, where are you?

I kept you dearly, so dearly, even so

you crashed and broke everything.

I’ve become sloppy, I’m a creep

I’ve become sloppy, you fall down senseless

I’ve become sloppy, without saying anything,

I’ve become sloppy, I’ve become sloppy.

I’ve become sloppy, I’m dirty

I’ve become sloppy, I’m keeping you in my arms

I’ve become sloppy, to the point I can’t say anything

I’ve become sloppy, I’ve become sloppy.

Notes and Other

*=You probably heard it somewhere, but these are the sentences used by children while playing hide-and-seek.

**= these are the first syllables of the Japanese alphabet, by remembering this sequence it’s easier to remember all the other syllables by just changing one wovels ( for example, “ka” can turn into “ki”, “ku”, “ke” and “ko” and so on). I guess the meaning here is “to fit into the normal standards of society”.

The song itself is extremely chaotic, there are a lot of scattered images of places, voices and situations sang in an extremely fast and deep tone of scream making it even more chaotic.

ビレッジマンズストア (Village man’s store) – Wendy Translation

Kanji

Translation

Our blood can’t be funny,

our defeat on the Tsurumai Line is a painful screech in our ears, it hurts!

Someone please, notice it! From midnight

they incite us telling us that it’s fine to betray the others, and suddenly

everything becomes so liven up,

someone’s barf has stained your dress.

You remember that violent song,

just like a curse that starts a war,

I only know the 2 beats rhythm.

But, for some reason, just as always,

that someone near you has vanished.

WENDY  Your throat won’t stop vibrating, those trousers don’t fit you well!

WENDY  You woke up alone, where will this atmospheric perturbation take you?

Now, you saw it between the clouds, let’s meet in that man-eating cavern!

You wake up, throw up the bread, take your medicine and become crazy!

I’ve got no feeling

It won’t be just as always,

before that,

touch, entwine, choose!

Someone please, notice it! From midnight

they incite us telling us that it’s fine to betray the others, and suddenly

everything becomes so liven up,

someone’s barf has stained your dress.

Our blood can’t be funny,

our defeat on the Tsurumai Line is a painful screech in our ears, it hurts!

WENDY  Your throat won’t stop vibrating, those trousers don’t fit you well!

WENDY  Jump off this new line to start walking alone!

Now, you saw it between the clouds, let’s meet under the hanged-men trees!
