ポルカドットスティングレイ (Polkadot Stingray) – べ二クラゲ (Benikurage) Translation

Kanji: taken from the booklet.

Translation

Title: Scarlet Jellyfish

I pretend not to feel ashamed.

Just like yesterday,

it’s raining and it’s so painful.

It won’t stop,

I kneel to Love and Justice,

but I don’t want to stay and watch all this.

I die one, two times inside a shallow lantern,

I want you to put an end to this.

Please watch

my insignificant breaths, heartbeats, thoughts.

This me who sinks and keeps sinking

has come to such a state, who’s at fault?

If you look at me from afar,

my wavering breaths are naturally weak.

Being alive is plain painful,

but before I can say such a thing, I keep asking for your attention*

I don’t even have the time to choose the words,

I’m spilling down**,

since the time I started chasing you,

I don’t know.

If I were to oppose to the glass of the tank

in which I don’t know what to do,

to the yesterday who has no end, it would just be hurtful and painful.

Will you put me down and go away?

If I hope for you to come, if I look for you,

the breaths of you who are not here are scary.

If I melted, drink me up,

for some reason, I love you to the point that even if I want to die, I won’t die.

If you look at me from afar,

my wavering breaths are naturally weak.

Being alive is plain painful,

but before I can say such a thing, I keep asking for your attention*

In the world in which we are right now,

as the last thing, hug me.

Who are you?

I don’t know but, in the end,

today, your love is dear to me.

Notes and Other

*=the way this is written makes this expression look like it is some kind of mania. Also the verb “ask for attention” may also mean “pull”.

**=like something is dripping down.
