After I kiss you goodnight, I wish only for one thing,
I pray for the happiness I wish for you, I pray for you.
You let out a small breath while sleeping, wrapped into the bed still too big for you,
I’ll stay here where you sleep forever, so that you can be happy here and now.

I want to be by your side beyond time, I want to be like the snow,
I want to meet this child, I want to hear the newborn voice, that voice.

I think I want to live, I think I’m alive, to me that’s everything,
kissed you as if I was leaning on your sleeping cheek.

I want to be by your side beyond time, I want to be like the snow,
I want to meet this child, I want to hear the newborn voice, that voice
In the night of miracles.

After I kiss you goodnight, I wish only for one thing,
I pray for the happiness I wish for you, I pray for you.

The snow on the window become a shadow and falls piling up on the walls,
Will you see the snow the same way I see it? Will you find in the same way a person you want to protect?

I want to be by your side beyond time, I want to be like the snow,
I want to meet this child, I want to hear the newborn voice, that voice.

Because you are the one fate gave me,
you’ll be loved, you’ll be loved, you’ll be loved, you’ll be loved and I’ll be living and laughing.
What we love, is what we should protect,
I’ll hug you, I’ll hug you, I’ll hug you, I’ll hug you, I’ll keep all the anxiety away
and give you a world where only hope exist.

Title: Magic Illusion

See you next time, I came to the last stop, the end of the play in which I looked crazy.

The always black mirror of the nigh has lazily shown you

Did I get used to to the blooming and scattering flowers? Did I manage to trick myself as I planned to?

I put “right” or “wrong” on the questions, incredibly all my answers are wrong.

Like heat rising from the ground, you waver, what will the world take possession of today?

I don’t know the reason, because of the future, it floats over my eyes but it’s still unclear.

While betraying each other, while mocking each other, the truth is that we want to forget everything.

We say “It’s so beautiful”, it disappears and remains in our dreams, remains in our dreams.

A red thread, as if it could make you think of me, please do leave tied like that,

or else, mend and patch up the hole in my chest with a needle.

Like a frame of shadows, I chase you but your happy voice just keep becoming more and more transparent,

if someone would make me lose my way, I couldn’t touch you, the time goes in circle, the field of vision bends.

If you asked the me left behind who are you looking at the past,

(he would answer) “was it an illusion? Was it a fake?”

If you realize that, that, if waking up is something usual,

the words I wrote and kept harshly would be the imitation of me,

in the end, in the end, one day, all I have touched will dance with cinder.

Like a frame of shadows, I chase you but your happy voice just keep becoming more and more transparent,

if someone would make me lose my way, I couldn’t touch you, the time goes in circle, the field of vision bends.

The past is difficult to let go of but transient, all those vivid colours, they will all be lost,

even if it was a mistake, even if it was an imitation,

they will reflect in our dreams, they will reflect in our dreams, they will reflect in our dreams, close the dream.

See you next time, until the farthest end, when the play of me getting crazy will be played again,

I say I want to be saved, it fascinates me but already ooze out cries and laughs.

Notes and Other

The title is a wordplay on the word “Imitation” written with the kanji of “Magic, fake, bad” instead of the of “Truth”. Interesting song to close the album, talking about the thought that all of our memories are nothing but we remember of reality, the way we shaped our reality into our heads.

D- Snow White Translation

Kanji

Translation

From the sky come dancing down feathers,
as if to pacify the flames of wars around the world, it falls down and piles up.

My blood flows in my trembling body
but if it was for my feelings, it would be tainted in many colours.

If you could forgive me, there wouldn’t even be the need to reach out your hands,
we are all humans so we cried, put our mistakes on our back and looked for a way to live.

Just like the snow reflected in your eyes,
even the sins, turn into a pure white scenery.
When you’ll vanish, I want to give you
my innocent tears like the ones of that time*, Snow White

Let’s share the few warmth between our hands,
I was born to meet you.

Right now, I can think like this, for sure, the sleeping rhythm is calling me.
Everywhere, the snow particles become bigger over all the things.

What we call “suffering” is the proof that we are living,
everyone embraces it.
This is an old story,
nobody knows when is our last day, Snow White

Just like the snow reflected in your eyes,
even the sins, turn into a pure white scenery.
When you’ll vanish, I want to give you
my innocent tears like the ones of that time*, Snow White

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*= probably referring to the times when we all were children.

Very underestimated song by D, talking about the pureness of the snow and the true nature of men: on the core, we’re not evil, it’s just the weight of our lives that makes us in conflict. In all of this, the snow offers a moment of pause, peace, a way to feel all equal again, pure like children admiring the snow.

Title: The lock of time

Let’s bloom out of season!

Let’s bloom without a name!

Until the day I end up scattering, I just want to waver, I just want to waver.

Voice and words are two different things, but I stick them together and created a song.

I’ll put it inside your hears so relax a bit!

Let’s watch the withering flowers!

When they die out, let’s plant new seeds!

The feeling that we were apart for too long it’s an excuse, an excuse,

It’s a lie far from the truth, you realized it but

if you pretend not to know, today will be peaceful.

Why do you keep knocking only on the door of memories?

Peek on the other side of the door that won’t open, the me watching me

always locks the door.

Let’s take a picture of the memories, they are going to fade but let’s keep them!

This fictional sentimentalism, let’s put an end to it, let’s put an end to it.

It’s almost time to retire from my work, I must go away from here right now.

I haven’t forgotten anything, goodnight for today.

Why do you keep looking only for the door of memories?

The me, looking at me, like as if we were in a broken mirror*, can’t meet

and, at the same time, we lock the door.

Why do you keep knocking only on the door of memories?

On the other side of the door, the one who silently looks at me, is it you?

Without knowing, I think I am in front of unknown dream.

On the other side of the noisy door, even if I look inside, there’s no one, so

I put on the lock of time, I put on the lock, I put on the lock, the lock.

Notes and Other

*=it is supposed to give the idea of the many reflection of one person reflecting on a shattered mirror, looking all alike but seemingly unable to talk to each other..

A song about memories and the lock that keeps us from perfectly remember them: we can only peek through the door of the past and see only a small part of what we actually have done. Even though, we keep knocking on that door, on the memories we value so much, because their sound is so noisy it leaves a mark into us.

Title: Goodbye Fuyumi

Come on, let’s forget, too much time has passed.
Every year, this season makes me realize that I’m alone.
Even though you still are somewhere in this country…
Doesn’t matter how strongly I wish for it, we’ll never meet again,
you coldly crumbled my balance and it’s impossible to re-establish it.
I used to wish for this, if I would become famous
and earned enough money to be considerate a suitable partner to the eyes of your mother…
Even now, I want to go meet you, no matter what.
Even though I understand that you are no more willing to meet me,
when I smell the fragrance of winter it feels like you are standing by me.
Until when all of this will go on? I laugh only in my dreams.
Since you make me suffer so much, I tried to hate you but
my loving heart can’t hate you because to me it’s fine even if it is an unrequited love.
I guess you can’t stay no more, I hate this painful love!
I guess I’ll live a life full of regrets, farewell, we won’t again.
I guess you don’t want to meet me anymore.
Farewell
I want to meet you.

Notes and Other

I actually love love Golden Bomber: they always sneak into lyrics some stupid shit that completely ruins the atmosphere of the music. This is one good example as well.

Fuyumi seems like a woman’s name, written with the kanji of “Winter” and “Beauty”.

Title: A cat’s dream*

Whenever I try to remember the dream I woke up from, I can’t remember it as if I was a cat.

When I look back, it seems like it told me a lie and wasn’t even there.

I tried to recreate a happy dream, but even though I’m singing it, it’s unclear

and if you pay attention, it turns into a nevus and shows my emotions.

It’s tied, it’s tied to us, but we still waver.

Together, together, the two of us are just wandering around,

for ever, for ever, for ever, for ever.

I’m lost inside a scary dream, in the vacant classroom the bell rings,

since I hated it I ended up burning it and it turned into ashes.

If you look up to a sad dream, on the rainy glass there will be a downpour,

if you add blood in it, a lot of flowers will bloom.

What is that I lost? I walked and the stars broke,

the house mouse laughed, said it was beautiful and laughed.

It’s tied, it’s tied to us, but we still waver.

Together, together, the two of us are just wandering around,

We are entwined, we are entwined, and we can’t still break that,

We are drifting, we are drifting, the two of us are melting together,

for ever, for ever, for ever, for ever.

I escape from the dream from which I woke up, but the night is always dark, right?

It conceals both me, you and someone who looks similar to us.

Notes and Other

*= once again, the title is a word that doesn’t exist but it’s the combination of two other words. No pun this time.

The entire album revolves around the idea of “fleeting” and “flowing” so the best approach to such theme is talk about things as if they were dreams. But, remembering a dream and compose about it is a very difficult process. That’s what this song is about: we may not get the whole meaning, but we can kinda feel it seeping through the song.

Title: Snowglass*

The sound of the hands of the clock resounds,

in the quietness,

it becomes deeper,

shall I go to bed?

It’s such a cold night…

Outside the window the snow falls,

the loneliness keeps piling up,

where did you go?

Still, when I think about you

my chest hurts,

even though, many, many times

I tried to forget you.

Only time passes,

the memories remains

and hurt, they are painful,

take with you my freezing feelings.

Even when you were talking,

I didn’t pay attention,

I just keep saying sorry

without looking into your eyes.

Strangely enough,

we have been together,

even though there were many reasons

for us to break up.

Without saying anything

you stopped coming home

and I realized I didn’t know anything about you.

My words didn’t reach you,

they danced in this sky,

blended with someone’s breath

somewhere

and vanished, vanished,

my pure white feelings

lost their warmth.

Because of your warm fingers,

because of your soft smile,

I’m about to crumble right now…

The sound of the door opening,

your voice I got used to hear,

your hands

gently hug me.

Be forever by my side like this,

don’t ever go away once again,

there’s no other place

other than this where I can stay,

so don’t snatch it away from me.

The sound of the hands of the clock wakes me up

“You are no more here”

Notes and Other

*=it’s a pun on the word “hourglass” which, in Japanese is written as “Sand Clock” but here the word “sand” has been substituted with “snow”. I tried to keep the pun in English.

Even though I still prefer the music over the lyrics of this song, I can’t deny it’s the first song that made me listen to this band.

Title: Floating and Melting*

I swim alone to the depth of the lake,

the window was left open, the curtain wavers,

sorry for leaving you behind, that’s because it’s the end,

stay there and watch me until you can’t see me anymore.

When it turn into bubbles, it’s beautiful, gloomy,

after it has completely sunk, rises to the surface, unclean,

Each individual flutters, what is this place?

The world in which we drift is the world in which we still live.

I want to be enraptured by the rain the seems like it’s shredding the light,

my vanishing feelings are so sleepy,

it’s forbidden to enter inside a lonely dream,

on the far away shore a circus is burning.

They turn into bubbles, both spells and question to the self,

about the existence, it’s still unknown, not yet tomorrow,

the wandering individuals help each other, make promises,

praise this world, it’s the world in which we are now.

Imprisoned on the opposite shore,

I’ll keep living** until our next encounter,

the transparent, poisonous

feelings melt together,

be quiet, it’s dusk,

even the reminiscence is far away,

forever melancholy,

a vague spectre.

Notes and Other

*=this word doesn’t actually exist: it’s made up by putting together to words that sounds like “wandering around”.

**= this word has the double meaning of “keep living” and “keep swimming”.

A song in which Ryutarou compares existence to swimming, as if, even if tie to each other, we could only be carried away by the currents.

Diaura – Whiteness Translation

Kanji

Translation

A night of white moon,

the window left open,

the room in which the far away sound of the rain resound, is my own world.

Even my helpless sighs, the movement of my lied down body,

the hesitating me are so ridicule,

there’s nothing now.

Let me sleep a bit more,

I want to dream.

Because of the sound of the unending rain,

the words I want to say to you

are drown out and everything vanishes.

If this rain turned into snow,

if it tainted the whole city,

I feel I could start walking again.

But I just think about the spring is still not coming.

A night of white moon,

my memories drip down

and I gather the traces they leave at my feet.*

My voice and my body

know that I kept inside me the fact that I love you,

it’s too late now…

Because of the sound of the unending rain,

the words I want to say to you

are drown out and everything vanishes.

If this rain turned into snow,

if it tainted the whole city,

I feel I could start walking again.

That’s why,

tonight I want to go meet you

and make my shivering body run.

The words I want to say will dance with the snow!

Tonight I’m going to meet you,

even though I might not come back,

tonight I’m going to meet you.

You are my all in this world

Notes and Other

*=the traces are those of tears fallen because of the memories. I love the way they spelled this image out, it’s so soft yet conveys it in such a delicate way.

One of the few love song of Diaura, really nailing the strength of the emotions, just as always. Another song that populated my playlist for quite a long time and which eventually pops out again in this period of the year.

Title: The Moonflower laughs

This is Tokyo, Shinjuku, Kabuki-chou,

no matter how glittering a night glows, this place never sleeps.

Arrogant women, clicking around with their high heels,

today as well they will trade one after the other* men.

I want to money with no need for gentleness, show as much as you can of them to me,

since I already got tired of hearing “I love you”.

Lulala Lulala

Dancing in the night,

Lulala Lulala

like a swallowtail butterfly,

Lulala Lulala

Wing-like paper money flutters.

Lulala Lulala

Brilliantly

Lulala Lulala

messily,

Lulala Lulala

here is the place where everyone’s instincts go crazy:

Tokyo, Shinjuku, Kabuki-chou.

The men showing off their rolls of banknotes came,

their face of who wastes money on brand products doesn’t suit them well.

You have come to play, haven’t you? Since I’ll be making money off of this, tell me what you want me to say.

In any case, this one really wants it, uh?

Lulala Lulala

Come on, come here!

Lulala Lulala

turn up the heat,

Lulala Lulala

I’ll buy you that expensive necklace.

Lulala Lulala

Brilliantly

Lulala Lulala

messily,

Lulala Lulala

here is the place where everyone’s instincts go crazy:

Tokyo, Shinjuku, Kabuki-chou.

Notes and Other

*=they merged for “trade” (or even better “buying and selling”) and the word “one after the other”.

The moonflower is called this way become it blooms at night and, since it’s pure white, it really picks up the attention in the darkness of the night: strong the analogy with the prostitutes of Kabuki-chou who lure the client with their eye-catching make-up. In the flower language it indicates “voluptuous beauty”, mainly because, blooming at night, its petals are wet.
