Reign – RISE Translation

Weather of death*. go fuck yourself!

I hate suffering from a obsessive form of love, the secret stories of having been cured,

just like the grass of calumny, keep growing again and again.

You scam who keeps mumbling while hidden,

what the hell are you? You are so lame!

I cannot stand it! Staying ill like that,

the condition of your hearts is that it is already dead since long time ago.

I cannot stand it! Hey, let’s go already!

Leave everything behind, don’t you dare have regrets!

Weather of death*. go fuck yourself!

Come on Breaker!

So what! Weather* Breaker!

If you want to change, I’ll give you hand!

So what! So what! Fuck you men!

If you are with us, don’t be afraid to be showy!

So what! Weather* Breaker!

Those guys, they are fucking annoying, we should teach them a lesson!

So what! So what! Fuck you men!

Step forth. Come on! The time is now!

You fucker with a shitty personality,

I’ll change you!

I’ll grab you with a punch, come with us!

I cannot stand it! Ah, it’s not enough…

Until the end, lend me a bit of your strength!

I cannot stand it! If it is the one and only you,

it will look cool!

Weather of death*. go fuck yourself!

Come on Breaker!

Those days that go by without you caring are scary,

the dreams who change and change, in the end vanish and

if my arms, if my voice reaches you,

I’ll teach you that one more time, one more time.

Come on Breaker!

So what! Weather* Breaker!

If you want to change, I’ll give you hand!

So what! So what! Fuck you men!

If you are with us, don’t be afraid to be showy!

So what! Weather* Breaker!

Those guys, they are fucking annoying, we should teach them a lesson!

So what! So what! Fuck you men!

Step forth. Come on! Dash on!

So high!

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*=I think that this may be a terrible mistake due to the lack of knowledge of the english language. What they mean here is 死ぬ気, which means “the feeling of being dead”.

In this way, the whole song sounds like a big rant towards those lamers who keep saying “My life sucks” and a way to channel the energy through a song during lives.

Title: Snowy Silhouette*

Scatter more, before the time of blooming,

push through, silently, in the pause in which snow is melting,

it unties forever, the string entangling us,

let’s drink and wait together until the time for us to fall comes.

Even a completely shattered dream

could be like a cherry tree blooming in winter.

Hyururira

The snowy silhouette*

chases you,

snow falls heavily and piles up

while changing your silhouette.

Cover it!

Cover it!

Taint it from the core!

When we’ll lose everything and be reborn again,

don’t care about anything and go straight toward the last frontier.

Hyururira

While the snowy silhouette*

gently caresses you,

you step deeply into the snow with a crumbling sound

and the snow will completely fill your traces.

Sprout!

Sprout!

Taint it from the core!

Even a completely shattered dream

could be like a cherry tree blooming in winter.

Hyururira

The snowflakes dance and fall scattering,

and while getting closer to you

they slowly painted your figure in white,

you got lost and vanished.

Hyururira

The snowy silhouette*

chases you,

snow falls heavily and piles up

while changing your silhouette.

Cover it!

Cover it!

Taint it from the core!

Notes and Other

*=it is an image coming from ancient japanese literature that can be described as the look of snowy scenario behind the back of a person (which usually is about to leave).

Another wintery song from Wagakki Band, talking the feelings of seing a loved person covered completely in snow and vanish.

While in western culture snow is seen as something playful and happy ( GENERAL STATEMENT), in ancient Japanese culture it was seen as what may make a person lose sight forever of something or someone. This is exactly what happens in this song.

Kanji: taken from the video

Translation

My heart is getting lost to lonely night,

I made you cry and made the mistakes so many times.

I can’t forget even now,

I just wanna say “I’m sorry”

It took quite a long time

to become honest.

(Nobody’s home)

I just kept tripping on my legs,

without being to able to turn back time,

getting annoyed by everything and everyone, but…

(Nobody’s home)

I want to go back home, after having walked and got tired,

since I can’t do things like living my life properly

I gave up on it.

If you have managed to be here without being broken,

please, stop the time!

When I’m alone, tears can’t stop because of regret,

what can be done against this pain?

When I close my eyes, remembering old times,

do you remember the time spent together?

I miss it now,

but there’s a fire burning in my heart.

I’ll go ahead, waiting for the transparent morning.

(Nobody’s home)

The paths we walked are equally different so

I don’t want to run away from anything,

I just kept tripping on my legs but…

(Nobody’s home)

Our hearts may crumble and lose their shade

and part, but they will also be tied together.

If you have managed to be here without being broken,

please, stop the time!

When I’m alone, tears can’t stop because of regret,

what can be done against this pain?

I’ll try, but I’m scared to break.

Hello, do you hear my voice?

I’m not losing my way. I did it again.

But I still fight here. Because you are fighting too.

Stop worrying about it.

Un-attach the scabs clenching my heart!

Live to prove!

These are words I vomit with a creaking sound,

even though we lose something “we keep living anyway”.

Now I still have a lot of fight in me*

I want to change something with this song.

Sorry for bothering, but, from my heart,

this is my “thank you” for everything made as a song.

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*= the english lyrics say “fight” but the word used for the Japanese translation on video means generally “thoughts, feelings”. I guess it could be interpreted as “inner conflict”.

Title: Go easy on me

Go easy on me, because I’ll die right-away,

go easy on me, because I’ll quit right-away.

Nor for this world nor for my company

I don’t even have the slightest attachment.

Go easy on me, because I’ll die right-away,

go easy on me, because I’ll quit right-away.

Friends, family, co-workers,

please, someone support me!

I have given up on giving my best,

people have been getting angry to me and scolded me too much,

I quit facing the others,

simply the fact that that person is here disgusts me.

(sleep tonight)

Looks like I’ve been surpassed by my juniors…

(sleep tonight)

Even waking up tomorrow morning is scary.

Go easy on me, because I’ll die right-away,

go easy on me, because I’ll quit right-away.

Nor for this world nor for my company

I don’t even have the slightest attachment.

Go easy on me, because I’ll die right-away,

go easy on me, because I’ll quit right-away.

It doesn’t if it’s a person or a AI,

please, someone support me!

(sleep tonight)

A friend who had my same wounds, quit and vanished

(sleep tonight)

It would be nice if I would stay like this without waking up.

Go easy on me, because I’ll die right-away,

go easy on me, because I’ll quit right-away.

Nor for this world nor for my company

I don’t even have the slightest attachment.

Go easy on me, because I’ll die right-away,

go easy on me, because I’ll quit right-away.

Love, friendship, success,

I don’t even slightly wish for any of those!

Go easy on me, because I’ll die right-away,

go easy on me, because I’ll go away right-away.

I’m on the verge of saying goodbye,

I’m not even slightly attached to anything.

I’m not even envious.

Someone, please, love me!

Go easy on meeeeeeeeee!

Someone, please, love me!

The Pinballs – 冬のハンター (Fuyu no Hunter) Translation

Kanji: Taken from a comment below the video

Translation

Title: The Winter Hunter

Let’s praise our latest adventure!

With a soundless voice we cross through the snowy roads,

just like the winter hunter, we’ll say

“go on forever, wherever the colour of the snow clouds is!”

Crawling around, beyond the dark forest,

sniffing footprints is Zoro, Zoro, Zoro,

make your hair messy, beat the path,

let’s slip into the darkness!

This long field continues everywhere,

with a soundless sleigh,

there was not even an instant of hope nor light

but we ended up meeting,

we’ll say “may our war song

go on, wherever the colour of the snow clouds is!”

Crawling around, beyond the dark forest,

sniffing footprints is Zoro, Zoro, Zoro,

make your hair messy, beat the path,

let’s slip into the darkness!

Let’s continue this journey, until

the last drop of the tears of sadness falls down!

Crawling around, beyond the dark forest,

sniffing footprints is Zoro, Zoro, Zoro,

make your hair messy, beat the path,

let’s slip into the darkness!

Towards the seashores, towards the jungles, towards the mountains,

winter hunter!

Glory and prosperity to this war song,

winter hunter!

Notes and Other

So yeah, this is my latest music craze, sorry for taking so much time to discover them. I slipped this song in this frenzy of Daoko translation with the excuse that “if it has the word winter in the title, it has to be a winter song, also, it’s in the compilation of winter songs from Japan on youtube so…” but be sure to expect more songs of them translated.

Title: Lonely God

The imaginary world that would break if anyone touches,

I created it again so many times,

I made my body sweet waiting only for you

and from the back of the moon

I want to know,

love me!

There’s no more love.

You called me

a lonely god,

I’m nowhere near being lonely,

I don’t think I’m lonely.

Hey, in the world where you were born,

the taste your living experience

is sweet? Spicy? Salty? Bitter?

Or maybe acid?

How much love

do you give to this world?

Those figures look like a lie,

they look like a masquerade ball.

Round and round, round and round,

I’ll turn, dance, show you that I am having fun,

a lonely god,

may it is so, but it is unexpectedly not bad.

The imaginary world that would break if anyone touches,

I created it again so many times,

I made my body sweet waiting only for you

from the back of the moon.

I want to meet love

I want to meet love

I want to meet love

I, love

Without even knowing how it was before, the world melts

inside the warm water,

the bursting bubbles are like humans,

and I am the same.

The imaginary world that would break if anyone touches,

I created it again so many times,

actually, I want you to touch me here,

from the back of the moon.

If you touch it, it will be the end of the illusion,

I’ll create it again so many times,

but in reality I’m the most fragile,

just like the fragments of the moon.

If you touch it, it will be the end of the illusion,

I’ll create it again so many times,

come on, look, touch me,

feel something of the real me.

I want to know

Love me

There is no more love

This world is falling

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

Another classic from Daoko, a song about the creation of a song and the distance between that and what we call “reality”. If you think about a song like a “idea”, you may see of that can be understood as an artist point of view, the way in which someone creates its own beliefs, its own world. The lonely god here, is no one but Daoko itself, which, as an artist creates so many times a fictional world based on her point of view, but just like anyone else, only wants to touch the reality of the others.

Daoko – BOY Translation

Kanji

Translation

T-O-K-Y-O give us an answer please!

Today too this city is noisy, near the statue of Hachiko, symbol of peace,

lost children go left and right.

All the young people looking down, like a group of vagabonds,

At the crossing intersection, scramble, the oxygen is running out.

Eh? This is a turning point…

I don’t know any crossing, come quick!

In the tumult of the city in which I guess it’s fine even if you walk ahead with the red light, breathing is painful,

In the labyrinth of streets in which I hesitate while saying “Er…Er…”, I feel the need to vomit,

An echoing alarm, the showy cheerleading shouts,

let’s go to the time after the collapse of this world,

in front of the exit the people glimmer, a hint of life,

I’ll surely find it here.

Hey, BOY

Don’t be so sad!

I don’t want to see that face!

Instead of stopping and worrying,

let me hear the continuation of your story!

Make a deep breath and scream!

BOY! BOY! BOY! BOY!

Paint over everything with green paint, darling!

Student dressed like the latest fashion,

fathers who have done a good job and come back from work,

part-timers distributing tissues with all their might,

female high school students used to slightly show their underwear,

everyone has such an energy,

because everyone feel the power of living,

everyone is shining, living the present.

In the middle of the big streets, I’m a small bird,

the dazzling stars are far away,

rain at Shibuya, covered by an umbrella,

the colorfully tainted puddles are somewhat

dazzling to me, what I desire now,

the trendy girl come out from the 109th street clicks her tongue like saying no,

I’ll go with the mentality of not being discouraged.

Hey, BOY

I don’t want to see that face!

Instead of stopping and worrying,

let me hear the continuation of your story!

You spit out and chewed on a gum,

The bloomed moon was missing a piece and cracked,

the central quarter is full of people,

I get forcibly caught and there’s no way out,

in the life many things happen, that’s obvious,

that’s what I say to the weakened hearts,

when the things around us become stagnant, that’s when genuinity end,

the idea of “people” is mysterious,

through the people we don’t know, we form a linked circle.

Hey, BOY

Don’t be so sad!

I don’t want to see that face!

Instead of stopping and worrying,

let me hear the continuation of your story!

Make a deep breath and scream!

BOY! BOY! BOY! BOY!

Hey, BOY

Don’t be so sad!

I don’t want to see that face!

That’s right, the circle that links us is a closed hole,

since we can say “See you tomorrow”,

let’s make a toast for the future encounters!

Let’s show to everyone the shops which this city can be proud of.

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

One of Daoko’s oldest song, in its new, re-arranged version. I love the representation of Tokyo, an enormous city that sometimes looks like it’s swallowing it’s own inhabitants, through the eyes of a young girl who is just looking for someone to love or a safe place in the future.

Daoko – 歌舞伎町の女王 (Kabuki-chou no Joou) Translation

Kanji

Translation

Title: The princess of Kabuki-chou*

Every time I hear the cry of the cicadas,

in my eyes lingers the memory of Kujukuri Beach**.

I parted from the hands of my wrinkly grandmother

and arrived alone in the pleasure quarter.

My mom here is the queen,

I, who look exactly like her,

was enchanted by the pleasure quarter

and stretched my arms towards anyone.

When I was 15 years old, the queen

disappeared leaving me there.

Guess I’ll be living together

with the man visiting every Friday.

I arrived in this city

without even being invited by anyone.

Even though I wasn’t raised here, it feels like I miss those days,

rather than memories, it’s the colony essence that makes my chest burn.

What I remember is the fragrance of the perfume,

without saying goodbye to the past in which I was raised

smelling that lingering smell, I wander alone.

Red lipstick applied clumsily,

seeing those lips, turned me to crime.

It’s not even like I wish to find again the face of my mother,

in fact I turned myself to hedonism,

once I crossed the entrance control, this city was already waiting for me.

“The ones who once were prosper, will inevitably decline”

When I understood that meaning

the place where I stepped in was already the pleasure quarter.

The woman who disappeared,

I hate her but summer is now***,

being addressed as queen

is something I feel proud of.

Neon and street lights, vague lights,

everyone except me are adults.

No matter if I did cut my bloodline links or not, in the end I followed it.

Today too, the depraved**** men and the fragrances of women

will move the city.

Tomorrow too, an unknown girl

will be the queen, how beautiful*****!

What everyone desires is pleasure,

what everyone inhales is the lovely dirt of the fleeting world******!

The me, who has become a women,

only sells herself,

if I wished for sympathy,

I’d lose everything.

If you get out from the eastern gate

of the JR station of Shinjuku,

there’s my garden,

the great amusement park, Kabuki-chou*.

Starting from tonight, in this quarter,

the unmarried me will be the queen.

Notes and Other

*=It’s the name of the pleasure quarter of Tokyo.

**= a beach where usually all the residents of Tokyo go to enjoy the sea.

***=it’s an expression linked to the prostitutes in the pleasure quarters. Usually compared to cicadas, the meaning is that they need to exploit their beauty while it is still in its bloom.

****=the word has also the meaning of “smelly”, creating a contrast with the “fragrance” of the prostitutes.

*****=this word kinda summarize half of the Japanese culture. It’s an expression used to indicate the beauty of cherry flowers: delicate, soft, beautiful because they soon scatter. And much more. But it’s too difficult to explain.

******=the word is “Ukiyo”, it indicates the world of pleasure quarters and its lifestyle. It’s a vast universe of culture and art, if you want to know more, try google it.

This song was originally written by Shiina Ringo, some kind of Japanese Madonna (the artist): singer, icon, sex symbol and such. So yeah, it’s a cover of this song. But it’s interesting that Daoko put such a song in a album where she explore her being a main stream artist: it’s almost as she is trying to compare herself to past’s icon. Interesting.

Also, the story is about a young girl who, after she came to Kabuki-chou, took the place of the mother she actually despised, turning just like her. Remember that, in Japan, high-ranks prostitutes are, first of all, entertainers, just like musician are. Thinking about it in this way, makes the whole song different. Is Daoko talking about her condition as icon? The image of Shiina Ringo may be seen as the mother (in an artistic way) of Daoko? Nobody can tell, but surely, if this song was created and put here, there has to be a meaning.

Daoko – チャームポイント (Charm Point) Translation

Kanji

Translation

Even though there are just thing I want to love,

I can’t find nothing but things I can’t love,

the things I need to be sorry of ended up increasing,

once again…

I don’t have many things I want to convey,

the feeling that I can’t save anyone is becoming more evident,

I got used to forgetting things,

I’m getting boring,

The me who must investigate everything

has something funny? Has something beautiful?

Is it because the me shedding tears is properly moving-like*?

“The sky is too blue”

“Are clouds free?”

“A kind planet”

I’m getting more and more annoying,

Can I tolerate that?

Am I giving up?

Since I want to be like this,

even this thinking

looks like an excuse,

I can’t love such a thing!

From inside the mist

I myself vomited

I’ll start searching with my hands,

inside this uncertainty, my certain

charming points.

Notes and Other

*=”moving” in the sense of “feelings”. The word used is a bit artificial, so I tried to make it so in the translation too.

The latest album from Daoko is very interesting: there are a lot of old song re-arranged, but the real juice is into the second disc “Charm Point”. The reason is that, with this album, Daoko has finally realized that she’s a kind of entertainment star. What she explored in these tracks are her charming points, or else, the reasons why she and her song are so likeable to the others. Daoko is no more the young talented girl whispering rap song, now she’s the star who wants to understand why she has come that, starting from her previous works, now re-arranged in this new album.

Title: Winter Illusion

Your picture is smiling

with that smile I loved,

before the first dawn of November

you started your journey to Heaven…

The me, who can’t bear the cold, puts his hands in the pocket of the jacket,

I used to love Winter because you enjoyed it so much…

Oh, snowflakes, please don’t stop falling!

Don’t disappear from my hands!

Since the snow piles up over our overly fleeting lives,

with my trembling voice, with my hands numb with cold,

I just keep searching for you.

Since I’m a crybaby and a weakling,

I must find you quickly.

Even though I already know that I won’t find you anywhere,

everywhere smells like winter.

Because, like a child, I could hug you

while saying merrily “It’s so cold!”, I used to like winter.

I can’t find you,

it hurts so much I can’t sleep,

I want to meet you, I can’t hold back the feeling of wanting to meet you!

Leaning on my dreams, crying silently,

I keep searching for you.

If there is a god,

if miracles do happen,

if only one of my wishes would come true,

let me see you, just one more time,

even if it’s just an illusion.

Oh, snowflakes, please don’t stop falling! Don’t disappear from my hands!

It’s so fleeting… soundless.

It’s fine even a dream, I want to meet you,

I want to gently warm you.

I can’t find you,

it hurts so much I can’t sleep,

I want to meet you, I can’t hold back the feeling of wanting to meet you!

Leaning on my dreams, crying silently,

I’ll try to walk forward just a bit.

But I won’t forget you,

I won’t shed any tears,

because you still live inside my heart.

Make your image reflect in this white scenery,

with the same smile of that day.

Notes and Other

A real classic from Acid Black Cherry, one of the visual band who managed to become extremely popular without losing their initial charm. Just a very adaptive writing style and a solid sound.
