Dadaroma – ファントムペイン (Phantom Pain) Translation

Kanji

Translation

Cough cough, let’s start!

The 29 years old boy I met yesterday

was full of holes in the face and tattoos on the arms.

He was enveloped in a strange smell

was spitting to the people walking the streets.

The radiant girl I met yesterday,

her face was weary and she was full of scars on her arms,

always not being able to control herself and laughing

and crying when it is my bad.

I sing, Pain Pain go away

I sing, Pain Pain go away, but…

Where does it hurt? What does hurt?

There’s nothing anymore there.

I sing, Pain Pain go away

I sing, Pain Pain go away, but…

Where does it hurt? What does hurt?

There’s nothing anymore there.

Typical of the suffering people

You never learn!

The 30 years old boy I met last year,

after his mother died he took off his piercing,

he hid his unfading spirit of painter inside a suit

and started walking towards the tomorrow.

The radiant girl I met last year,

her face was weary and she was full of scars on her arms,

always not being able to control herself and laughing

or crying when it is my bad.

You who cannot change, don’t, don’t convince yourself to change.

You who cannot be saved, don’t, don’t wish to be saved.

The “You dancing without opening the umbrella” is beautiful.

You who just keep crying, don’t, that is not beautiful.

I sing, Pain Pain go away

I sing, Pain Pain go away, but…

Where does it hurt? What does hurt?

There’s nothing anymore there.

I sing, Pain Pain go away

I sing, Pain Pain go away, but…

Where does it hurt? What does hurt?

There’s nothing anymore there.

Typical of the suffering people

You never learn!

Phantom Pain!

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

Phantom pain is the pain that people who lost a limb or a part of their body feel in the region of the lost limb even if they don’t have anymore that part.

The meaning here is that when we suffer because of a society that judges us for our choices (piercings, smoking, tattoos, art or anything else) we end up suffering for something that is no more part of us: just as if it was a limb we decided to cut off our own.

己龍 (Kiryu) – 春時雨 (Harushigure) Translation

Kanji

Translation

Title: Spring Downpour

Even now, inside a slumber in which you can’t even remember the dawn,

every drop of rain gently turns into a lie*.

In this fading moment, we just stop and crouch down,

and the cold darkness beneath our eyes seems like a sweet lie.

We nor live, nor die, we don’t even wander with no destination,

we drift feeling like we lack something, without being here, where? There, far away.

Do we turn into a dead shell while being alive?

Or will you believe the lie that even if we burn those fragment and die, we still live?

The one who caresses the inside of my heart

is the boy** who dresses up as the salvation and haunts that place.

We all just gather, pray, rise and eat greedily,

is this “dream” or “reality”?

Play as much as you wish…

What pushes my back towards my last trip towards death

is the light pink color of cherry flowers who scatters with me, like a multitude of lives.

If you aspire to that, what follow will be the sweet honey of fallen words***,

a murmur that drowns out one owns whispering.

The sound decorating life scatters away without a single sound.

With the voiceless song of the rain as a parting gift,

I’ll devour and gulp down this sweet lie****.

Tonight too I’ll be hidden by the haze and be taken away,

while being too weak to cut off that arm.*****

I’ll chose to die as if I was not living, but exposing that is awkward,

no matter how many times I scrub my eyes, the dawn looks still distant.

We are choked by tears in pain and we are left behind

and pass away in a far away place.

The gentleness of imitations****** make my eyelids drop

and invites me to a cold slumber.

“Spring Downpour”

Notes and Other

*=There is a pun between “turn” (read as “utsurou”) and “lie” (read as “utsuro”).

**=the word mean “boy” but looking at the kanji, it is written as “hungry soul”, giving it a rather dark nuance that has been lost in modern japanese as it is usually written in katakana.

***= it actually translates as “fallen leaves”, but anyone that knows a bit of Japanese classic literature knows that the “leaves of words” are an expression to express the way of writing of ancient Japanese literature. Knowing that, Kiryu play on the words mixing their meaning together. The whole meaning of the sentence is that seeing the image of falling cherry flowers petals, you may want to express it by words and that sound will drown out your own voice (maybe because you’ll use words of literature instead of your own words).

****= which is life, according to the thought of Heian period Japan.

*****= it’s not meant in a realistic way: the image is that the scenery of the haze catches the heart of the main character as if it was grasping to the main character arm and pulling him/her to some place. Not being able to cut the arm means to not be able to resist.

******= as life and existence is a lie according to the thought I talked about in point 3, everything is actually a lie we use to blind ourselves from the true reality of void and therefore those are sweet lies.

The song imagery is inspired by the spring downpour which makes the cherry flower petals scatter even faster, accentuating the sensation that everything will eventually scatter and vanish (which is the image linked to cherry tree flowers). This image makes the main protagonist think about the characteristic of life, whether it is a lie, an illusion, or a purgatory.

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

*=What many other translators seems not having grasped (or sometimes even ignored) is that this is the image of the fetish of putting fingers inside the mouth of a person which cannot see (something which is clearly displayed in the video).

**=What they tried to convey with this kinda unstable english is “Yes, I feel an electric shock/when I have sex with you/it feels very good”.

17 posts after: small vacations, postponed post, once again instagram…

Hi guys!

By the time you read this, I’ll be in Japan for a small vacation. Destination: once again, Kochi. This time I won’t be studying there but I just wanted to meet again all those people who treated me so nicely last time I visited there.

This has two main consequence.

  1. I won’t be able to follow and translate any release until I come back to Italy (that is March 25th)
  2. I’ll starting post photos on Instagram because there are so many beautiful places I need to document with pictures.

So yeah, actually there many more crazy news but I’ll save them for my next post.

See you!

Title: Stop it with the blue sky

Ah, today too I failed,

I hate everything.

I keep remembering only that and

it only makes my head ache,

it makes me rather want to vanish.

The un-cooperative me,

to the point that the clear blue sky looks like a like, opens the umbrella and walks.

I got tired of being hurt, I became an abject,

I don’t even know what to do so stop it with the blue sky.

Stop it with the blue sky

Ah, you told a lie once again?

You will throw me away, right?

Tell me what’s wrong in me!

You said we’ll be together forever,

why are you leaving?

Everyone end up getting far away without saying anything.

Dear friends too, people I love and family members,

it’s lonely, it hurts and makes me not trust people anymore.

But, actually, I want to get in contact with someone.

Clouds gradually completely cover the sky

and the sky turns into an harsh color.

Someone, please, save me.

Quick, please, it turned into a downpour.

The un-cooperative me,

to the point that the clear blue sky looks like a like, opens the umbrella and walks.

I got tired of being hurt, I became an abject,

I don’t even know what to do so stop it with the blue sky.

Quick, someone, save me!

Stop it with the blue sky.

*= a pop band from the seventies. Golden Bomber love to throw into their lyrics this kinds of reference.

I translated this song in order to interrupt the depression streak of two Xaa Xaa song in a row. After I did that, I realized that two days ago was the second birthday of the blog: pretty fitting, right?

So yeah, genius song from this band, just enjoy.

ザアザア (Xaa Xaa) – 赤色 (Akairo) Translation

Kanji

Translation

Title: Red

Spread more the red,

if every road will one day become grey,

not for everyone, but for you,

I’ll completely dye it vividly.

A plain doll, just breathing,

just saying words, just eating when it’s hungry.

That time, frantically,

I called out for something,

I forgot it, I was just a kid*

Spread more the red,

if every road will one day become grey,

not for everyone, but for you,

I’ll completely dye it vividly.

Living only for for the sake of living,

I still don’t understand why I’m living.

I got tired of hustling everyday, I’m searching for some serenity,

somehow, I kept living, I was carried by life.

In the city filled with meaningless things,

I frantically and deeply breathed.

I wanted to scream something

but I gulped down my dreams without saying anything to anyone.

But in reality, there were many things

I wanted to say.

I don’t know the reason why I was born but

if I keep going like this, I’ll never know it.

At least at the very end, just for one second,

I’d like to laugh, so I thought…

Spread more the red,

if every road will one day become grey,

not for everyone, but for you,

I’ll completely dye it vividly.

An unmistakably red color.

Notes and Other

*= the real translation here should be “red child” but the expressions it’s too familiar to the japanese language for “kid, baby” that I think they chose this word to underline the fact that everyone, when they were born, were screaming and covered in blood, as if the only to keep our colors, the strength we were given at the very beginning, is too scream and suffer.

To all you there saying

“Nono, it’s your fault if they won’t sell”, I want you to look at this.

The general sells of CDS are the one third of the ones during the Golden Age of Cds,

the only ones in good condition are the AKB!

Performers and actors and their dreams are victim too,

only government workers are stable!

Why do we want to go against? (POISON!)

Nananana nanananana!

Against the things adults say

Nananana nanananana!

Why do they teach us to have dreams? (POISON!)

Reign – Tonight Translation

Kanji

Translation

What are we possibly looking for, staying together like this in such a place?

When I look to you, I see a lot of resembling face,

do you understand why it is “you and me”?

If you forgot about it, I’ll make you remember.

If I singed a song many times here tonight only,

and if, just with that, you stayed with me,

I could go ahead without loosing my way from this moment on.

I’m singing for you and me.

I’m singing now.

I’ve been thinking what to convey in this song,

but even if there are fellas who think that I’m trash

surely I won’t meet them here.

I want to give this song as a “treasure” in this place.

If I singed a song many times here tonight only,

and if, just with that, you stayed with me,

I could go ahead without loosing my way from this moment on.

I’m singing for you and me.

I’m singing now.

The truth. I’m afraid, but… Carry on, one day…

There are still many things I want to convey, but I’ll write about that next time.

Because, from now on, I’ll always…

If I singed a song many times here tonight only,

and if, just with that, we would stick together,

I could go ahead without losing my way from this moment on.

So come on, if I singed a song many times here tonight only,

and if, just with that, you stayed with me,

I could go ahead without loosing my way from this moment on.

I’m singing for you and me.

I’m singing now.

Reign – defective scene Translation

Kanji

Translation

A freezing, void scenario, everything ends.

Everything of me, suddenly, vanished in front of my eyes.

The day after too, and the consecutive too, the promise of the days like eternity

is being repainted in complete blank.

In that defecting world, what is that we wish for and keep living?

It doesn’t even make sense.

Going to the land where that thing may or may not be, I only wish for one thing, that is to go meet you,

I have nothing else to cling on,

even if this reality was to turn into “nothing”.

This place is like hell, nobody can save me.

No matter how I hold tight to your traces and follow you with my senses,

the blank space won’t fill, just a faint rest.

Since I’ve been given this life, please, let me meet with him.

Going to the land where that thing may or may not be, I only wish for one thing, that is to go meet you.

Defective scene. Lost future.

I can’t live without you.

I will wanna see you again.

Please don’t leave me. I will be there.

Since I’ve been given this ending life, please, let me meet with you.

Going to the land where that thing may or may not be, I only wish for one thing, that is to go meet you.

If this is my last hope,I’ll make my choice,

If I can be at your side for ever.

Notes and Other

Words in Italic are in English in the original lyrics.

A vague song. Even though we may not understand the scenario ( the future? nowadays society? fantasy?) we can feel what the emotion of the main character are.
