Is this my life? A warped heartbeat,

a deceived, stolen spring…

Jeers echo, the piercing pain of the nausea

is the worth of the life I see with my eyes and the rubbish of the foolishness in my hands.

In the inside of my head I carved the meaning of the tenderness I can’t find no more.

my heart freezes, I want you to kill me,

I don’t want this pregnant life.

Inside the wavering, wavering consciousness

I’ll sleep with my falling, unforgettable memories.

Will I ever be saved? It feels like I’m getting crazy because of this cold…

Words in italic are in English in the original lyrics

*=these are all terms used in the propaganda during the military regime in Japan (1926-1944): they all have a strong nationalistic meaning, something that conveys the idea that “Japan has a unique and superior culture and history”. This message was used to justify the submission of many east-Asia people during that period.

**= the word may mean “virtue” but it is also the name of the Era in which Japan “reunited” as a nation, so maybe the meaning is “if you want to be one as a nation again”.

***= in the song it is read as “adults”

Before anyone starts to accuse R-Shitei of nationalism (and/or racism) for writing this song, I would like to remember to you that this is an artistic product and has no political value. Also, knowing that R-Shitei have written many controversial song just to make people upset, it’s important to see that, even though this is a nationalistic themed song, there are many English key words in the song so it looks like they’re mocking such ideals. To me, it just looks like an anthem to young Japanese boys living in a time which suffocate them, a way to tell them that they’re special in their own way.

*=it stands for “Sadist”

**= it stands for “Masochist”

***= I don’t think these words mean anything,maybe it’s just a way to describe the violent pleasure of being beaten.

R-Shitei are quite known to produce controversial content and this song is no difference: while everybody sings about classic loves, they try to describe something that is often seen as obscene although one of the many aspects of love. Maybe it’s something that doesn’t feel right, maybe it’s an higher and more sincere form of love, but, whatever is the case, the courage of this band to publish such a difficult-themed song is not to be forgotten.

will eventually sprout again from the soil.

Wherever this rising fog will lead

I’ll follow that path deeper and deeper.

There’s no exit in the labyrinth of the lost you

and you’re intoxicated by the pleasure of these sinful days.

Where will be cut the thread* tied to us?

You will look back and search for the footprints, even if you can’t come back.

You are enveloped by the morning mist and hide that clumsy childish behaviour of yours,

ignoring the advises you choose your path, I wonder if you will slip down and get hurt…

But even so, you’re fine. I want to know you,

even if you will end up badly.

The fruits of the lies hid by the sweetness invite you to sleep,

the presentiment of a goodbye, you close your eyes in my arms.

Because of your obsession, even after that cunning kiss

you don’t wake up from that deep dream, in this forest of dependence.

It’s fine even if you say just “I love you”,

I want to be satisfied by you.

Don’t say this is the end,

the remaining “goodbye” is still scary…

The footprints are struck by the rain and disappear. We won’t come back to such a distance**. This forest of dependence seems a sea of tree.

Notes and Other

*=To me, it feels like a reference to red thread connecting the people destined to be together forever (if you don’t this legend you’ll find it easily on google). Also, the red thread is displayed in the video so I guess I’m right.

**= it has the meaning of “distance of emotions” or, in other words “kind of relationship”

Really nice song talking about the love for a girl which seems impossible to save from this forest (maybe it is a metaphor for society? Maybe for depression? Who knows..) because she just keep hurting and intoxicating herself. Therefore, there’s just a bitter conclusion, but it’s still full of emotions.

That girl is cutting her wrist even today.

The girl says “Where is the worth of my existence?”

That girl is cutting her wrist even today

with her sharp look.

The bandage wrapped around her left hand

looks like it’s hanging and it’s barely visible.

The bandage wrapped around her left hand

is mourning about something.

It looks like that girl is absent today too.

Classmate A says “Could it be that Sachiusoko* is dead? Ahah”

It looks like that girl is absent today too.

because of those sharp words.

It’s not her who turned spontaneously in the garbage of society,

it’s the society that has thrown that girl away.

It’s not her who turned spontaneously in the trash of society,

it’s the world that’s going mad.

The quantity of of that non-stop piercing pain

is a lethal dose, an overdose,

a future of comatose state awaits, it can’t be helped any more.

The inside of your brain on which tranquillizers don’t work

makes those delicate and emotionless looks of yours.

I love this side of you

and you will lose your mental equilibrium and your soul will crumble

but I will do anything to cure you.

The sick girl who ran into the unreality,

tainted in deep red, she said

“I want to die”

That girl was always holding onto her arms.

I said “Are bunnies friends of her?”**

The dark past won’t vanish.

In this world which goes on no matter what,

she cried because of the pain and the sadness.

looked like an illusion.

Even though she walks on the railways to make the others worried,

in the end she’s not for real,

she has just had enough of the lie of the soon incoming “freedom”. ***

And even the day in which she will final decide that she wants to die

because of her inferiority complex,

when she will follow and cut open the cutting line

and look down to a side,

she will see how worthless is the world.

*=Sachiusoko is a nickname to mock the girl of the song. It’s a pun between “Sachiko” (a common name for a girl which literally means “lucky/happy girl”) and “uso” (“lie” in japanese): the result is something like “the girl whose luck/happyness is just a lie”. A pretty childish pun.

**=I don’t really get what they are trying to say with this phrase. Maybe she’s just friend with bunnies because she’s too shy to be friend with people. Maybe it’s some slang or saying popular between young people. I still don’t know.

***=this line is actually like the girl herself spoke but since I used 3rd person for the whole song I preferred to leave it that way.

The song talks about the suffering of a school girl who is bullied (bullying in schools is a very serious problem in Japan). I prefer to stop with explanation here in order not to spoil you the song.
